Default '97 850 GLT- new buyer conerns

Im looking at a '97 850 GLT sedan, just wondering if there are any weak points/hot spots to look out for when buying these cars used. I have a 240 DL now and am looking for a newer Volvo for my next school year's trips to and from school. Any advice would be awesome. I was also wondering if anybody knew whether or not the factory rims for the 850-R models fit on 850 GLT bodies?

Well the ABS module is guaranteed to fail. It is easy to disconnect and there are a number of places you can send it off to have it repaired. Other things are more a function of how it was maintained and how hard it was run. I would have a trusted mechanic check it out before buying. You should have no problems fitting R rims on your car. I took the 16" Mimas off my S60 and put them on my sons 850 so I could upgrade mine to 17" wheels. Search for Wheel Upgrade S60 & 850 to see pics of the outcome.

Well thanks, the guy Im looking at buying the car from is a big Volvo mechanic and sells a lot of repaired Volvos as well. Ive taken my 240 to him for years so I believe his checks on the car. Thanks for the advice there.

If it is been maintained properly, it should be a good, safe, reliable vehicle.
