Default About to buy a T-5

Hello

Im an owner of a 940, but i will be swtching to the sporty 850!!! I just came back from test driving an 1996 850 T-5, the guy said its a GLT and its the one with 275HP. I would like to know the con's and pro's of this car! I noticed that the driver's seat, the power seat(only one part) wasnt working, the one where you put you back(sorry, dont know the word). THIS CAR WAS HELLA FAST! its amazing i want it now, but first i need to do the research, so please answer what are the con's and pro's and is it worth buying, Its at $5,300. good price or bad price?

It's either a GLT or a T5, it's not both. He has had to do some mod's already to get 275 HP out of it. Especially if it's a GLT which only has 190 from the factory. Look at the VIN number. It's either the 5th and 6th or 6th and 7th positions that tell you the model. Not sure of my numbers right now, but I believe 58 is an R, 57 is a T5 and 56 is a GLT. That's good for all 850's, not S70's though.

Right on. Still wouldn't hurt to check the VIN too though. Still wonder how he thinks he is getting 275 hp though? You buying from a private owner or a car dealership? My advise is to have a Volvo certified mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection before buying. It will cost around $60 and it's money well spent. Especially if there is a reason to not buy the car. If he tries to talk you out of having the inspection, that's REALLY a reason to insist on one. I got really burnt on a car once where the guy told me he could not get it to a dealer for a pre-purchase inspection because he didn't have valid plates on the car, but assured me the car was in great shape.

He actually suggested me to go and get an inspection, and he never said it was 275 HP, he said its the model with 200 and something HP, so i just assumed that. But i will take the car to the volvo dealership for a diagnostic.

im buying it from a car dealership
