Default Acceleration Sensor

Anyone know what the Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor does? I keep getting an error code associated with it (p1308) and the light goes out when it is unconnected. I was wondering what it was for and if really needs to be replaced immediately. Normally I would just replace it but the only place I can find the part at prices it at over $300 and the part isn't that big.

Default RE: Acceleration Sensor

If you are talking about the one mounted to the front of the subframe try to replace it ASAP.
I say that because it completes a circuit.
There is other parts connected in the circuit.
The A/C high pressure switch,Fuel tank pressure sensor and Map sensor are all in the same circuit and if one goes bad it affects all of them.
Did you check the wiring really good?
Sometimes when you bump the parking stops the wires can get knocked down and cut.
