My car- a '98 S70- had an aftermarket header panel on it for a while (I bought the car wrecked, and used an aftermarket panel when I fixed it) Everything lined up just fine, it looked fine... however, the plastic was a bit thinner and the texture wasn't perfectly even. It DID work great, though... until by boss backed his truck into my hood about 5 months after I fixed it, bending the hood and breaking the grille and header panel... I then replaced it with a used OEM one. And actually, that's what I'd try to find in your case, anyway. Used 850s aren't too hard to find in salvage yards. Keep in mind, the panel on my S70 IS a bit different from the 850. Usually, aftermarket plastic body parts will FIT okay... they just tend to be thinner. I'm not really an advocate of aftermarket body parts in general. I only used the A/M header panel in my case because I couldn't find a used one at the time, and new Volvo ones for THAT car are almost $750!

That's how my header panel got busted. A Yukon XL backed into it. The trailer hitch missed the bumper and went straight into the header panel and the a/c condenser. A low speed bump but that is all it took. I'm not sure OEM or aftermarket would have made a difference. Even the salvage yard header panels around here are running 400+.
