All the true red ones I see have the charcoal interior and the orange-red I found all had the tan interior. When I was looking about four years ago I found three of the orange-reds in the US, two on the west coast and the one in PA. The T5R in 95 was made in a green color, but none were brought to the US.

Wait, what? The link he provided was completely legit. Did you not see the part on there to insert year and model and then a copy of Volvo's paint log came up showing all the colors for the 850 for that year and make? paintscratch.com also has the same feature, in 96 or 97 there was no red/orange for the 850s, just 601, 418, and 609 red and of course the 423 AG.

 

Obviously we should believe what the chart says more than what we see with our own eyes. I really thought the guy in Pa was trying to pull one over on me and had the car painted that color until I researched it and found two others the exact same color and they came from the factory that color.

 

I've seen a red R before though with the tan interior, granted it was a wagon. And the only way to end this would be to get the color code off of the suspect car.
