The promoter goes on first.
Then the bumper coating.
I removed all the moldings and cleaned them good.(One screw per door moldings 2 clips to release the fender moldings but you have to open the door and access the back of the fender to compress the clips)
Then painted them.
I removed the front Bumper(was also installing the R lower part at the same time) then removed the black part and painted it.
I removed the rear bumper and taped off the painted part.
Then painted.

Nice.

I was thinking of prepping the door/bumper strips by wet sanding them first then spraying them with flat black...but i think this method is a lot more efficient especially in the cold weather...

And a whole lot easier. Mine has been on for around 4 months now and still looks great. I even did it to my S60.

If the weather is below 50 degree, it won't apply right.

Well, took my car inside a warehouse and did this this morning as it is easly 30 degrees F or less outside.
I used a dremmell tool and smoothed out some rough edges on the rear & front bumper.
I think it came out pretty nice:

Took me about a little over 1 hour to do this. I highly suggest using rubber gloves as dye is no joke. [&:]

Thanks jks2 for the tip.

I use turtle wax ice, it's a synthetic polish/wax

best stuff i've ever used, it will make your car and trim pieces look brand new

give it a try, it's awsome

Your welcome. Now you need to paint the grille black. Tape it off and leave the outer edge, the slash and the Volvo emblem chrome and paint the rest of it. Looks great on my sons black 850. I used Krylon that bonds to plastic.

And to add to this, you want to use some sandpaper and sand down the chrome so the paint applies better. I was told to use 180 grit.

The thing holding me back from doing this is the weather. It's 6 degrees out right now lol....

I don't like the "R" in the corner of the previous pic.

One of the pics in my post Wheel Upgrade S60 & 850 in the Sights and Sounds forum shows the front grille. I didn't sand mine down and paint seems to be holding well. Sent it through a car wash on New Years Eve and the grille and the trim both came through fine.
