Boxpin hits the Drag Strip - Runs a 13.7 with the tires blazing.

What a fun night. I broke out the first run so the night was over but I ran a 13.7 with the tires spinning. If I can get traction I am sure it will be in the low 13's.

VERY NICE! What was your trap speed in that 13.7 run?

boxpin 10-14-2010 01:16 AM

Cool. Looked like you were catching up to the other car. when I went to Zmax, DragMax, they told me to avoid the water pit just before the starting line. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering what time you could get.

TIPSP 10-14-2010 10:30 PM

Ha, my dad makes those once a year for fun, He is a retired engineer...wait till this year its CO2 driven. All three cars will be on the track at the same time.

TheTrainwreck 10-15-2010 12:50 AM

Damn you could pretty much tell they were highly engineered. With actual specs and everything lol. He needs to make an 850 wagon!!!

TheTrainwreck 10-15-2010 12:53 AM

Dude and you have like 20000 views on 2 vids and almost the same on a third lol!

boxpin 10-15-2010 03:20 PM

Congrats!!!!
I need a diff and then take mine to the track. I may take it once after the motor is finished getting broke in.

That was pretty cool! Glad you finally made it to the track...are you running it with regular tires or drag radial type tire? Sound AWESOME in the tunnel!!

Hoosier slicks on 16 inch volvo rims. Still no traction.

turbo matt 10-16-2010 10:34 PM

what kind of 60 foot's areyou getting? What was your MPH and 1/8 mile time? Trying to determined where it could pick up at? I am sure on the launch to get the big beast out of the whole. Are you foot braking...what rpm's does the car flash too before the wheels start turning?

rspi 10-16-2010 10:37 PM

Did you spin a little on each run? I was hoping to see you get 12.5 with the mods you have. I think I can get 14.5 with my stock T-5R. I forgot to flip my ecu switch when I was at the track and was running like 15.3's.

Some guy keeps trying to get me to let him purchase my T-5R, claims he can make it a 10 second car. I keep telling him that I don't think it's possible but he thinks it is. I can see him now, braking akles, etc. I'd be happy with 12.5 :) but I also want to do it in a wagon. Better sleeper. I was trying to purchase the green T-5R but I wouldn't give the guy $800 for it. I kept telling him he needed to let me have it for $500, which was probably a little to much. The VIN was the only thing I wanted. I was planning to rebuild the thing from the ground, with 350,000 miles on it, I'm sure it would likely take it. The closet track we have it only 1/8 mile. I don't know if it's possible to hit a country road and figure out what a 1/4 mile is and test it myself. What is a stock T-5R sedan suppose to do the 1/4 mile in? This link claims 14.0 with very little mods: http://www.dragtimes.com/Volvo-850-T...lip-18691.html not sure if it's true. Wiki claims 14.8: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_850

turbo matt 10-16-2010 10:47 PM

I would say 14.8-15.0! How heavy are the Volvo Sedans anyway?

I would also think Boxpin MPH would be higher with his Mod's and I was thinking low-mid 13's as well! 12.5 is moving out pretty good. His video's I have seen sure does look and sound like it would do 12.5's...it sounds bad ass!!

When I go I should be running a 15 inch version of those. But if it is anything like the Hoosier road racings tires I have I will spin them like street tires.
The ones I have for road racing are really sticky driving around the track but the torque I have is no match for them. My boss kept telling me before running them I would never break them loose on the track. Well to his surprise on my first lap after getting them hot I will spinning them through second on every corner.
But once I go I am going to post the times.
