I wanted to record stock time, then modded times. But I really think I would rather mod a wagon. Just would hit people in the butt more by getting dusted off by a wagon.

I really admire Boxpin, his ride is nice. I want to get a wagon, do the iPd stage 3, and have a really nice ride that will kick most street cars in the rear. I'll do it one day. My friend that keeps trying to get me to sell him my T-5R lost his car by outrunning a police helicopter. He claims that they told him that he was doing better that 200 mph. He had a '98 Eclispe that was drag strip tuned, I believe he said he was running 9.3 1/4 and would NOT spin tire, ever!!! Had a 2 stage nitro system on it. I'm not interested in doing anything like that, 12.5 would be good enough for me.

I can no longer find the 960 youtube video's of the dude drifting, etc. I guess the poster pulled them off.

Wow I really thought the wagons would be heavier than that. Thats not bad at all compared to most modern cars of today. My Mazdaspeed6 (boy I loved that car) was a pig at about 3600lbs.

I have only seen a small handful of 12 second runs and almost every one of those Volvos have been gutted. My wagon time is about average with the mods I have. I know I lost some with the start as I keep spinning the wheels and boost faded to 16.5. I will go again with newer slicks. I think I am realistically a 13.5 car. Top speed was about normal too. My Celica in the 80's that ran a 13.6 crossed at 101. So 13.7 at 99 is appropriate.

a guy I know did 13 flat in a 940. only had 3" exhaust, camshaft, 16T turbo, set of chips... basic stuff.

You must have had the Celica All-Trac that was turbo charged and AWD. I have not seen any Celica from the 80's (and driven in the 80's) run in the 13's that was N/A unless it was modified and had major engine work:confused:

Well then, let me introduce you to mine.

Picture taken in Feb 1987. Thats me and no comments on the suit. Its a 315hp 18RG with dual sidedraft, custom built Aries pistons, built for nitrous. Running a 115hp squirt. Normally asperated it ran a 14.7, on the bottle, 13.6.

And I agree, a few more runs and I would have it down better.

The green one belongs to a friend of mine - it's a 1976 and its pretty near perfect condition.

The black one is an alltrac that has a ton of custom parts on it, including custom calipers and brackets, a fair amount of engine work, and its amazingly clean. The guy that owns it is an airline pilot, and he has a convertible that's every bit as clean.

The silver one is just a beast - lots of engine work....i dont remember exactly what the trap time was on that car, but it was in the mid 11 range. and yes, its an alltrac as well.

Well that is a cool Celica, but I will stand by my comment. I have never seen an 80's model (stock:D:)) Celica run 12.5's!!

STOCK is the key word here. Anywho don't you wish you could have those cars back now?

Wow!!! Spinning all the way down track. That cost you time. My neighbor goes to the track a lot with his '76 Firebird that he rebuilt. He said that spinning, especially off the start is safer. If you get to much traction you break things. I would try running it in E mode and see if that helps. I was thinking that you were only spinning a few yards when you started.

If you let off of it for a second at about 45, then punch it again, will you spin again?

Not with slicks. These slicks have been sitting at the side of my house for a year. Roasting in the sun. I think they were dried out. After a couple runs and burning them pretty good they started to hook up. That first run with me spinning was simply me flooring it in hopes that the slicks would do their job, they didnt. That run was a 15.1 followed by a 14.0 followed by a 13.7.
I have many years of experience at the drag strip but I was rusty since I have not been there in 20 years. I took Second Place for the season in 1986 - Super Compact Class in my Celica and I have numerous trophies for winning Wednesday Night Drags. Needless to say, I am no newbie to dragging.
The 'E' setting will change the shift points and would not be benificial at full throttle nor would it help at launch. I do not leave at full throttle until I feel the traction then I let the car loose. The key is to hook up, more runs will yield better results. I plan on returning and expect a better time. Things wont break with an Automagic.

OH YES! I almost got it back but a guy bought it out from under me. I was saving $ to buy it back. If you register with this forum you can read all about it. Its being brought back to life and will be faster than it was in the 80's. Here is the link...

I had a 1992 5.0 Ford Mustang Conv. Black leather and a 5 speed I wish I could get back. Also a 1986 Mustang Coupe 4 cylinder (would had made a great conversion to V-8). Finally I had a 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z that was primo clean (I rear ended someone and it ended it's hey day).
