Can't get sunroof installed back on rail; bad angle
The 3M 77 Spray Adhesive I used to re-glue the headliner didn't stick, so now a few years later I did it again.
I removed it per the Bay13 article and http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/cha...db27cf745e35b1 Now I am unable to get the sunroof back onto the rail. First, I have trouble lining it up side to side, so both of the "tabs" fit inside the rails. When I achieve that, then the tabs are too far to the rear by almost an inch. I'm trying without success to get the rails in the correct position backwards/forwards so that I can then adjust their upwards angle so that the screw holes are backwards by the inch that I require. The right rail has some broken plastic down in the guide track area, and sometimes one of the pivoting parts will pop up out of the rail. I can see it, I think, and keep it pushed down with a screwdriver until it passes that point where it pops out. But I really need some guidance on what the correct position of the rails needs to be, both fore & aft and then how to adjust the upwards angle involving the several independently pivoting arms. |
I have managed to force it; used a lever to pry the 2nd hole into alignment on the right. I had to loosen the rearmost screw on the right.
Now the problem seems to be that it binds before going backwards; it does not seem to "dip" correctly before starting to move backwards. |

That symptom is somewhat common.
I hope the attachments can give you some ideas. Sorry I couldn't help you better. JPN |
Grrr.. the server won't let me see those images, I keep logging in but it keeps going back to the login page.
Hovering over the image opens a window, but it doesn't show anything but the "?" indicating a bad link. |
