I recently bought a factory keyless remote off ebay. It looks brand new and has a new battery in it. I followed the drill in my 1994 850, key on and off five times then press and hold button for a second or more. It still does not work. The one remote I got with the car works fine. I verified that the new one is identical to my original with every number on the rear the same. Am I doing something wrong?

 

OK, Now I am thoroughly stumped. I fiddled with this remote all day and all of a sudden what ever I was doing worked. I turned the ignition on and off five times and then I pushed first the lock and then the unlock button and it programmed itself. The problem is the other remote that I got with the car stopped working. So I went through the whole procedure with the original and it worked again,but the new no longer worked! What's going on? Both these remotes are identical down to every number embossed on the case. Now the question is can I get both working or for some reason just save the one as a spare.

 

Funny, I was thinking about the same-got new remote, but my old remote only unlocks the car, so I did not bother trying to program both.

you have to lock the car from inside by pushing the pin down, then do ignition thing 5 times QUICKLY ( do not wait before putting ignition into position II again) and try to puch lock or unlock button on the first remote, then on the second one. I hope it works. Let us know if it worked.

 

Yes you have to program both or the other one looses program.
Do the key thing on the 5th one push the button on one then on the other.

Tip look at the LED light on the dash. It should flash in program mode. It should pause when programming the remote the flash again. That is whe you hit the other remote button.
