I am about to replace the odometer gearin my 95 850 Turbo, which broke over a year ago. Since it's a late 95 modelit is equipped with the OBD-II system and I can't retrieve the mileage myself. So I brought the car to the local Volvo dealership so they could plug their scan tool into the ECU and get the actual mileage.

Turns out they could not do it because theysaid on certain models it is not possible to retrieve the mileage from the ECU. My question is are these guys just being lazy and jerking me around, which doesn’t seem to be the case because they didn’t charge me or is what they say true? Also, does anyone know of any other trick that could be done to get the actual mileage of the car?

 

Did they try by the OBDI or OBDII port?
Mine on my 95R was pulled from OBDI under the hood. They might not know how to do it.

 

I think the dealer was lazy and jerking you around[8D].

I have tried from both palces on our 95 TUrbo. No scan tool or dealer hookup was able to get it from the OBD II port, but I was able to get it from under the hood each time. I also feel you are being jerked a bit
