Default Catch Can Install

Installed my catch can last week. So far it works great and has been catching all the nasty **** that would otherwise be going into the intake.

Hoses spliced into the PCV system. Will shorten the main hose there when I put in the PCV system.

I don't know why, but the o-rings that came with the catch can were super ****ty and the ones on the can itself had melted and leaked oil all over the can. So I used teflon tape on all of the threads and bunched some up to beef up the seals.

And the **** it collected on my 650 mile weekend trip. The catch can is definitely worth it if you ask me.

If so I do not see them.

Really? I see them and I think silkhope saw them. Maybe refresh? Do you just not see anything or are there image codes of some sort?

edit: if you still don't see them, try here:

Now I see them. Before there were no image codes or anything. I refreshed and still nothing but now they work.

Looks good!

Forgive the dumb question but is this in lieu of the pcv fix that requires tearing down the intake to do? And if so, is it something that can be done without tearing down the engine?

Thanks! Probably one of the better things I have done to help my engine out so far I think.

NO! This is not something to replace the PCV system. It is simply just to help catch some of the oil that the PCV system does not, especially when you're driving the car harder.

And as you can see in the pictures, it does not require tearing down the engine, you simply splice into the large hose coming off of the top of the PCV system.

AGAIN, A CATCH CAN DOES NOT REPLACE YOUR PCV SYSTEM.

Yeah I know, Holy Thread Revival Batman...
But, I am putting one in when I rebuild the turbo this week, so just to clarify

The larger line that comes from the PCV to the PTC gets routed to the inlet and the outlet goes to the PTC?

Yes, that's correct. I think people are over thinking this catch can idea. The hardline that goes from the top of the breather box to the PTC, if you literally cut that line in half, and put this in there, that's all it is. All I've done is extended the lines to fit in place.

I have done some other alterations just to make everything a little more permanent, but there isn't much to it.

Such as completely remove the hard plastic line in place for copper tubing

And all the other hoses are 5/8" heater line hose.

Updating this thread:

This was my most recent setup:

The top kept snapping off on the main can, so I removed the second can, put an outlet for a second filter and am just running the one can:

However, because the guy that put in the baffle into the can did not put it anywhere near down as far as I marked on the can, the blow by just went right past the baffle and was saturating the oil filters and blowing out oil/dripping out the filters. So, I added a baffle to the can:

Will post pics when it's all done. Just using JB Weld to seal the seam where the baffle is in the can. It's worked before so I have no doubts in its ability here.

This should be about one of the better designed cans. IMO, way easier to buy a cheap can and then mod it to your needs. You're going to spend upwards of $200 for a can with these size ports and internally baffled.
