CD player no response.
Just had a similar problem with my Alpine CD changer running through a Volvo SC801 head unit.
When I bought the car the unit would not play disc 6 but played the other 5 without problem.
One day the dreaded EEEE appeared on the screen and the changer stopped working. Radio and tape were OK. CD button did nothing. I disconnected the lead at the changer and reconnected - nothing. I then took the changer into the front of the car and connected it direct to the interface - nothing, but it ruled out a cable fault.
Yesterday I received a new (used) changer from eBay, connected that - nothing. The air turned a delicate shade of blue, believe me. The new changer included an interface which was different to that fitted to the car so I changed the interface but found it had one more wire than the original and I was not too sure where the extra wire went. Back went the original interface and the new changer came to life and I was able to play CDs. Out of curiosity I unplugged the new changer and plugged in the original and it came to life and I was able to play CDs - including disc 6.
As I had unplugged the changer from the cable but had not unplugged the interface from the rear of the head unit until I tried to change the interface I can only assume that the problem concerned the interface and its connection to the rear of the head unit. It's worth a try.
Good luck.

Thanks Bill. A while back I had the EEEEEE and unplugged the remote unit and it worked for another month then went dead again. Tried the same thing this time but nothing....
