I would replace the third bolt at the EARLIEST CONVENIENCE.

Tony -I can hear your 'meachanical engineering and force dynamics'. Its sounds hi-fi to me...:P

would it be a good idea to replace my right axle while im replacing the bolt? it doesnt seem like that much more work after you have the axle out of the hub.

its a very easy job to do the axle. passenger one is a little harder, but not bad at all (extra two bolts, woohoo)

cool, thats nice to hear. The clunking is on the passenger side but i think it might be a tie rod or something. The clicking has started on the left side though when turninng.

No one mentioned the motor mount on the lower right side yet. That would make clunking noises on rough road and under braking and accelerating.

Just a thought.

Hey, I had the same problem!!!!! well to come to conclusion, I havent read all the posts but I work at Toyota as a lube tech :P so i lifted my car up and I see cracks on my bushings that holds the sway bar, and since its cracking it would make the sway bar lose when you turn accel or decell.

I'm going to check the lower motor mounts and sway bar this week when its nice. Do i just check if there is play in the links and if there is they are bad, correct? It wouldnt be the spring seats since i replaced them and the strut mounts a couple months ago and the clunk from the spring seats was different than this pop/clunk.

got ya.

for the links. if the car is a slightest bit unlevel (driver passenger wise) the links will be tight no matter what. so get it very level in order to check. i've always been a fan of just removing one end of one link and checking it by hand for play or to be very loose. if that one doesn't seem up to par replace both. they are only $15per from fcp.

so u'd be looking at $30 + a lil change for shipping. at that price it might be nice to do them either way, if anything it might tighten up the front end a lil.

my '04 XC70 will have this pulsing noise when braking, I can also feel it from the brake pedal, I notice the "black disk " is high from the base, but not sure how far is far, to be the right indication of spring seat issue?

TIA
