Codes...
So tonight I set out to erase all the codes from the system, since the timing belt broke and I had to add a new head to this engine I figured why not...so I start pulling codes. I was successful in erasing 90% of them there are a few remaining... and the most annoying thing is
Now the Service engine light is on and so is the ABS light... I went through again and tried to clear them out...NO JOY Any Ideas? I decided to disconnect the Battery ad give it a charge overnight to see if that has any bearing...I was thinking it may reset the ecu? |
RE: Codes...
Ok the trick for the Service engine light was
Key in Posn II on but not start Plug the lead into Port A7 press the button 4 times when the light responds with a single flash... Press the button 1 time the light responds with a single flash... Press the button 5 times the light responds with a single flash Press the button 1 time the light will begin to blink... go turn the key off...the light is reset... Now for the stupid ABS light... |
RE: Codes...
OK...
Got it... If there are NO codes in A3 just get the car up to say 20 MPH and hit the brakes...the light will...Disappear...LOL Tomorrow a new heater motor, and a new thermostat this one is stickin open, and this one is as good as new... LOL |
RE: Codes...

RE: Codes...
Yes I am, since I don't have to rely on it as a DD...don't forget I have 2, it is all good, and really these things are a blast to work on...no hidden surprises. I actually look forward to removing every single defect in the cars...that is just downright goofy...but that is the way it is...
Also helps knowing guys like you are here and monitoring, so when we really get stuck, there is someone behind us with a shovel...ready to dig us out... You guys that contribute are a real godsend! It makes the whole process of ownership that much better...Thanks again |
