Default Compression test...How To?

Starting to have a lot of pressure in the crankcase. I pulled the dipstick to relieve it for a bit. I have not cleaned the PCV system. Ive searched about cleaning that system and I saw from JPN that you should do a compression check first. I would agree (Me + Time=$$$). I dont have a repair manual so I would consider this forum as such. How would I start this procedure? What are the parameters for leak down numbers...time vs. PSI. Any help would be appreciated of course!!!
