cooling fan will not shut off
i'm thinking the fan relay on my 94 850 turbo is shot. i have to pop the hood and pull the plug going to the fan motor everytime i park as well as leave. has anyone with any experience ever seen this? oh yeah and my code reader doesn't work so don't bother asking.

I think your diagnosis is correct in being the cooling fan relay.

if it isnt the fan relay, it's the car putting itself into limp mode for some reason.

i will replace the relay and keep everyone posted. i'm curious about what limp mode is...
thanks guys. |

Fan Relay has the ECC contacts normally-closed, while the ECU contact is normally-open. When ECU detects ECT over a certain temp, it closes the latter contact. When ignition is turned off, ECU should switch the fan off after 30 seconds. I think the normally-open ECU contact, which is closed at this point does not open, hence shut down the fan. This causes the fan to continue to run.
