Default couple of issues, wagon

Hello,
I have just bought my wife a 1996 850 glt wagon, 157k. I am new to volvo, been a honda, nissan, toyota owner most of my life. I have 2 issues, can you buy new leather seats for the front, or nice seat covers? The leather is cracked bad but not torn. And the "tracks off " light is on above the switch and pressing the switch does not turn the system on and turn the light message off. I hope this was a good decision to buy this car. Any advice or information would be helpful.

Thanks ,
crossworx

I know the dealer sells nice heavy cloth seat covers.

I would check E-bay for a set of seats. You could also buy new leather covers but they are expensive.

For the tracs problem most likely the ABS module needs rebuilding or replacing check here to get it rebuilt.

Thanks for the link tech. I have sent an e-mail and and will proceed as instructed.

One other issue, the driver wiper blade does not stay on the windshield at the top of it's swing.

The top edge of the wiper only is off the windshield. I bought new blades from volvo, ouch! hoping this would correct the problem. Maybe it is the arm itself. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Yes it is in the arm. Here is what I do I remove it from the car. Then stick it in a vise or something secure. Then I push on it a little to slightly bend it some.BUT be very careful not to break it.I always bend it down close to where it mounts to the car.

It only needs a little bend you might want to try to bend a little then check it.

Hi,

The 850s are good cars, they just have their quirks like anything else. I know exactly what you're talking about with the seats. I had the same thing and I refinished them myself. Check out leatherique.com. They make excellent dyes that will match your seats. I got a kit with everything I needed for about $100. It took a weekend to do and they came out great.

I don't know what to tell you about the TRACS light. Perhaps tech will have some ideas for you. In the meantime, perhaps you could go to your local AutoZone and have them read the diagnostic codes from the car. That might give you an indication as to what's wrong with the TRACS. Are you sure the switch itself is OK?
