Thanks Tech. From my reading of the service bulletin, I only need to follow the instructions at section C. This seems to suggest to me that it is as simple as removing the cable at position 1 and joining it to the cable at position 2. Have I missed something? Also, could you confirm that connector 24/11 is the smallest of the 3 connectors to the ECC unit?

Also, do you know why the SB says not to twist the wires together? I think this is exactly what I would have done... Is it just to sell more crimp and cable terminals or is there a legitimate reason?

Thanks again for your effort in helping me.

Luke

I will check on the plug.
I think it is to make sure there is a good connection to make sure nothing happens.

if you twist the cable you shorten just those wires and it will pull on the twist alot because the other ones will be much longer.

It appears I misread/misunderstood the technical service bulletin. I actually need to follow the instructions under section A as it is the 'control module' that I am updating and not the 'climate unit'. I think I need to get my hands on the complete technical service bulletin with diagrams before I attempt to modify the vehicle's wiring. I need to be sure I am modifying the right cables and connectors etc.

Having taken the two control modules apart, the main difference in circuitry appears to be the the section of my old unit that got fried. So that is encouraging.

Thanks for all your assistance thus far. My problem has been resolved for the most part.

I will try to find one with pics for you but might take a little time. I will be away all weekend.

Thanks Tech. It doesn't look like the modifications are likely to beyond my reach, so I would be interested in any further clarification you could provide. No rush though.

Have a good weekend!

Thanks Tech. I think I understand what has to happen. My main issue is locating the connectors, in particular connector 24/1 at the left A-post. For me I am guessing it would be the right A-post as it is a right hand drive vehicle. Certainly, my fan motor cover is on the left side (rather than right). Can you give any further details on locating connector 24/1? If so, I may be able to do it without the diagrams.

Hi Tech, any luck with the print outs? Also, any ideas whether the instructions would be different for a right hand drive car?

Thanks.
