Default ECC not functioning properly

I'm a newbie and I tried a search for the issue that I am having and came up with similar but not my exact problem. I purchased a 96 850 Turbo Sedan a couple of days ago.

The only real issue is that the ECC wasn't working. While I was test driving I played with the settings. If I put the fan control setting to auto it worked. I know I can take it into a dealership to check for fault codes, which I had planned on doing until I noticed that what sounds like a damper accuating on the passenger side. It sounds like its trying to work but just never gets to where it wants to go. Is it possible it is just stuck or could there be other problems?

Has anyone experienced this and if so how was the problem fixed?

Thanks

Ben

It sounds like it is either stuck or the motor is dieing out and does not have the power to more itself. I would take a look at the servo before you take it to the dealer.

It might be the recirc door motor making the noise.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. After I played with some of the settings, I have now determined it is something with the defrost setting. The noise in the front drivers side only happens If I have the fan speed in Aut and the defrost on. If I change it to any other setting the noise goes away.

Thanks
Ben
