Ecu???

A quick question is the ecu on my 96 t5 the same as on a 98 v70???

Well right there you should be able to answer your own question.

1. Your a 96 850 T5.

2. Your comparing it to a 98 v70.

One is a Turboed car and one is an N/A car.

Why do you need to know?

No they are both turbo charged cars

Well you should have said that. Because the way you put it makes it to be one is a T5 (Turbo) and the other is N/A (Non-Turbo). Make it more clear next time so we can help you more.
