Engine number location

I have moved overseas and I took my Volvo with me.Going to register my car tomorrow and needed to know where the engine number is located

Are you talking about the actual engine number? Or just the engine model on the VIN code. I believe it's the 6th and 7th digits.

There is a metal plate near the battery that has numbers on it. I know the VIN is one of the numbers and I imagine one is the engine number.

Not the VIN but the Engine number.I will check out that plate near the battery

The engine number is usually on a sticker on the front of the timing cover.

There are two locations; one supplied by Tech, the other is in tight quarters and you may need a flashlight + inspection mirror.
