Engine swap! what to do While I am there?
I am purchasing a used motor and will be performing a swap on my '96 850 2.4L non-turbo. The compression/rings are shot on it, among other things.
What should I consider doing while I have the motor out? -timing belt -belts, of course -PCV system (I just installed a new one on my dying car, is there a way to clean it up rather then buying a new one?) -plugs, dist, wires -motor mounts depending on what they look like - any other ideas? Thanks for the help |
water pump for sure since it'll be a lot easier with it out.
i'd redo all the seals i could, including the rear main and cam seals. |
Everything. Hoses, RMS, cam seals, t-belt/waterpump, all engine/subframe mounts....everything.

Yeah, cam seals, front and rear main seal, water pump, timing belt, PCV system (better to replace than clean), t-stat, cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires....essentially everything you would do to a new car to get it to a solid stage zero.
