Which fuel pump

So there are dozens of threads with fuel pump problems. Edit: Made a few mistakes here so adding the info now for future readers:
(1993 Volvo 850 5 Cyl 2.4L Just want to replace the pump that came out of the tank inside of the assembly)

Many needed a new one but there are just as many pumps out there that, they say, will fit your car.
Which fuel pump did you buy and install? Not the assembly but just the pump.

Looking on line there are at least a half dozen brands and then there are the 6 different part no's with pictures that all look identical but do not look like the pump on my table here.

Lets not talk about prices.

Just a bit frustrated

If you're looking for a replacement fuel pump how about telling us what it's going into. I get frustrated trying to guess.

Where have you looked and what part numbers do you think fits yours ??

How about posting a picture of what you have on the table ??

Yes sorry, I'm frustrated too and not thinking.

Middle picture . . . What is the number after "Bosch" ??

Just to be clear, you're just looking for a new fuel pump that will bolt in and hook up properly

Again sorry missed the second question, yes just the pump itself that will fit into the assembly without modification. Some pump listings on line have said "may need modification".
I could do that but for perhaps a few extra $ I'll get one that fits strt. away.

That bottom number ( 9 135 418 ) in the middle picture is listed as the proper crossover for this pump:9142957 Aftermarket - Fuel Pump (w/ Filter) - Bosch 69693 - Free Shipping

If I search by year, make, model I come up with that same Bosch number (#69693) Volvo Fuel Pump Insert (850 C70 S70 V70) Bosch 69693 | FCP Euro

Year, make and model search at autozone Airtex/Fuel Pump (E8250) | 1993 Volvo 850 5 Cylinders 2.4L MFI DOHC | AutoZone.com

Like many other things it might have been updated where it might not look exactly the same but it should have the same physical dimensions and the same style electrical connectors or adapters included in the kit.

Do you have any part numbers of pumps you've found don't work ??

By any chance have you been coming across this one for a later model ??

"Do you have any part numbers of pumps you've found don't work ??"

No I have not even ordered one based on not knowing the exact one needed. Attempting to get advice on line has been a pain and local stores want 2-3x as much as on line. Say no more.

"By any chance have you been coming across this one for a later model ??"

Yes I did see that one a few times. However that looks like it would have fitment problems due to the fact there seems to be no place for the spring that holds it in place. The first pump you listed has a good enough picture (another beef of mine about these places) that shows the spring just may fit into the groove at the top. The second one has the price where I say lets buy it.

Maybe you can give them a call to see if they might be of help or send a picture of yours and the part numbers on it to their customer service ??

Let us know how it goes and what you end up getting that fits ;)

And that picture of the pump that really looked wrong compared to yours is for later models but it did list it as a "possible" for your year. Just wondered if that's what you had been running into. Some times parts guys can save your butt and other times all they seem to be able to say is "year, make, model" nothing listed

Airtex E8643

You can find it online for 100 bucks or less, Advance auto has it for less than 150.

So I ended up buying from FCP a "Volvo Fuel Pump Insert (850 C70 S70 V70) Bosch 69693 for $89.11. Is it identical? No I could not find any that were identical so I just took what I thought would be the best option.

Does it fit? Yes but not without a little modification of the spring. On the old pump it just slid over the top and was in position. This pump has a groove for the small end of the spring to fit into but it needed to be stretched out a bit to fit in there better.

Not a big deal. It also needed the wire ends replaced because the old "receptacales" ( I love german translations) will not fit. I call them female spade terminals because they fit onto the male spade terminal and look like a spade. Anyhow on the old one, the ground is smaller and the new one has a plastic holder that allows only one way to connect it. It states in the instructions that you can only do this once as they can't be removed from the plastic holder. Crap just use a VERY small jewlery screw driver and they come out. The world would not be turning the right direction if I managed to get it right the first time so they have to come back out.
Those terminals are also the industrial type and not for the 18 gauge wire that the pump runs off. So I soldered them so there would not be any issues.

Last of all the top of the pump unit, where the wires go in has some old sealer around the wires that is chewed up and coming off so I dug it out a bit and filled it with black RTV silicone. Tomorrow we see it it works.

And it did but was so quiet I thought it was not working.

Here are some photos of fuel pump assemblies with pumps.
I think the bigger one ending in Bosch number 418 is the original pump and the smaller one is the replacement which requires wiring modification and other changes too.
