Default Gauge cluster removal

How difficult to remove gauge cluster? My gas gauge does not work. Have replaced sending unit in tank but with no luck. Thought I would get a new cluster and replace it, but not sure how difficult it is.

Never done it on a Volvo, but I did on my Nissan Maxima and it was surprisingly easy, just be careful not to pull too hard and risk breaking any circuitry connected to the cluster.

TECH, have you ever done a c70?? One of these days the dash bulbs are going to die. The basic c70 is an 850 but the dash is different. Any instructions??

They are a little different but not much.
For the most part they are the same.

Haven't done one on a while will have to look at one to see exactly what is different.

I had imagined that one pulled the speedo cluster from the front...........after pulling the wheel. Apparently you pull the dash pad off and 'reach in'???? I've done an Audi and BMW and they are rather difficult and of course the coiled spring for the air bag presents a heck of a problem if you don't wind it the correct number of turns. The Volvo sounds 'easier'??

Yes no need to remove the steering wheel.

You remove the top part of the Dash.

Thank you sir............I shall keep that in mind as I believe that i will keep the c70........it grows on you! I just picked up a summer auto for my bride. She now has a 06 Mazda MX-5. That little auto is a bargain!!! It is a blast to drive with a 6 speed paddle shifter. If only Volvo made something like that. Of course if it had a 302 Ford pushing against the gears...................
