Default got into an accident

well i got into a fender bender in the 850

now i need:
new hood- no can do with the junk yard, all are smashed
new grille-getting an after market one
new drivers side horn-got at junk yard
new bumper- all at the junk yard are smashed
new aircondition condensor (i think thats what it is, infront of the radiator)- are these worth picking up at the junk yard or should i just shell out for a new one?

i'll get pics later, i rear ended a surburban with a trailor hitch and it went right through the car, luckily it didn't get to the radiator (which i had already replaced) and i was only going 5mph or under

my question is, does anyone have a hood or a bumper they are willing to sell for a 1995 volvo 850 GLT (mine is green)?

also where is a good place to get an aftermarket grille?, i'm going to try to bend mine back a little so i can get a grille back in it

What type of aftermarket grille?

Are you talking a cheap knock off of an OEM or are you talking about like a mesh grille?

You need to look at this thread here, https://volvoforums.com/m_38606/tm.htm
and this one, https://volvoforums.com/m_65537/tm.htm

If your evaporator has been replaced, I would go with a new condenser but check with Tech to see what he thinks.

At least it was a fender bender.

i'm thinking of also replacing my plugs, plug wires, and coil. should all of this stuff be OEM? i've heard of them acting weird with other plugs, i was curious as to other components.

this morning she wouldn't fire for the first time, usually if i push the plugs back onto the coil and make sure they are all snug on the distributer she turns over, but this time it just wont run. it's got gas and the pump is priming , battery is good, i just think the coil is shot. i'm going to go fool with it later hopefully i figure things out

thanks for the help guys

I would go OEM on the stuff.
Aftermarket parts don't work that well at all.

Any trouble code in the ECU? Camshaft Position Sensor could be one of the culprits.

unfortunately i can't get it to autozone to get the codes pulled, and i don'thave a reader. i need to shell out a few bones and buy one.

i've been tinkering with it all day, my coil doesn't seem to be drawing spark. i went to the junk yard and picked up a new coil for 20$ (compared to 200$ new) and got it tested at autozone and it tested fine. but even when i put the new one on it still doesnt fire, it cranks and cranks but just doesnt fire. it's on the charger right now if anyone as any ideas feel free to post.

thanks again

Maybe a cam sensor.
Yours is a 95 you should have the OBDI under the hood and you can pull the codes yourself.

Green850,
My local volvo shop in Birmingham has about five parts cars, and they all have intact hoods I think. I don't believe there is a green one though. It seems that the cars fail mechanically that end up at his shop for parts (due to lack of maintenance). I'd keep looking for the used hood- you'll find one. What part of the country are you in? Maybe someone could point you towards a more Volvo savvy automotive recycler- or check with your local body shop, and see if they can order you a used hood.
Is your no start problem related to the accident? or a separate issue?

ok i still have had no luck getting my 850 to start.

i replaced the cap and rotar, as well as the spark plugs (which looked horrible, i think they were original) and it still wont turn over

it is getting fuel (checked the fuel rail, sprays very well), timing belt is not broken and is turning, and it cranks normally but won't fire

i also put a new coil on which tested ok autozone. how would i go about checking the cam sensor?

anyone have any ideas? i am pretty stumped on this one, it has to be spark and something that would randomly go out.

I don't think there is a way to check the cam sensor. When mine went I just replaced it and that was the problem.

It's on the Dirver's side of the cam. I think it's on the intake side, but not certain.
