Default Headlamp Replacement

I have a 97 Volvo 850 GLT wagon, and the headlight on the driver's side just went out (the little indicator light told me, pretty cool!). The low beam doesn't work, but the high beam still does. Do I have to replace the whole thing (about a $200 part), or is it possible to just put a new bulb in. And how much trouble is it to replace? Something I can do myself, or a major task? Thanks in advance for any info/advice.

it is easy as pie, you replace the bulb there is a cover, that twists off behind the headlight and you can access the bulbs low beam is part # 9006, high beam is 9005

should cost you about 10 bucks for a bulb. that being said, I would go ahead and replace them on both sides. Just make sure you do not touch the glass on the bulb. if you do, wipe it off with rubbing alcohol. if you go to most auto parts stores, they will do it for you.

Thanks so much! Glad to know I don't have to buy the whole assembly, and it sounds like an easy fix. My first post here, and I love my 850 wagon, so I'll be back. Again, thanks for the good advice.
