The floor between my center console and the middle seat gets really hot and i'm thinking this is the heat shield that needs replaced, is there a certain metal, thickness, or shape the heat shield should be?

 

Turn your heat off? Aaha, Kidding. Well do you mean the small indent to where the exhaust runs under?

 

Maybe the Cat Converter is going bad and overheating.

 

I've read other threads on other sites before about similar things happening. Clogged cats getting really hot and what not. I would check into that. I've never heard of a heat shield going bad since there's really nothing about them that can go bad.
