Hi AJ,

Please see attached pic (will delete within the next few days so be quick!).

It looks like the lamp (LED) can be on with inoperative heaters. Trace each component for proper conductivity, resistance, etc (you'll need a digital multimeter, and it is a worthwhile investment to get a $20-$30 Craftsman meter, that are more than sufficient for most home mechanics).

Or, see if Tech knows certain components in the heater mechanism that are known to go bad after years of use.

I hope this helps.

Sometimes the wires will break out of the seat matt.
Some of the 850's also had a seat heater recall.
You might want to check and see if it has been done already.

Both my 94 and 97 850's had heated seat issues that Volvo took care of under the recall. Both would light up at the switch but not heat up and iirc it was t-stat related but Volvo paid for itin any case.

The recall seems to apply to '96 & '97 only, '93-'95 didn't have this recall.

But it's worth asking at a dealer; they may be either nice enough or ignorant about the recall to fix it.

Good luck,

JPN

I remember seeing something about this. The problem there is, my nearest dealer is 240 miles away and they don't work Saturdays in their service department.

Yeah, I still have to go in for the heat shield recall as well.

Looks like I'm going to have to take a couple days off work in the near future.

I have to have the tank recall done on my R as well.
But I only work 3 miles from the Dealer.

HI JPN, here are few options
1- Marry an American Citizen, (a Woman) a guy would be ok... in Canada.
2- Study in Nursing and become a RN they are in high demand in the USA. they would give you a green card.
3- Citizenship lottery.

You are probably married seeing all the post about how to convince your wife (or something like this)
I reallyhope youwill become an American Citizen, That would be a plus for us.

I had this problem. Turned out that one of my kids had shoved a tissue box under the seat and it had pulled the wires of the connector under the seat.

Here's the pic, posting it for the 3rd time[8D]. Gentlemen, GET HERE QUICK!!!

Try following as well:

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/volvo_wo...techdocs.shtml

As to JPN's immigration probs (sorry Jim):

1- Marry an American Citizen, (a Woman) a guy would be ok... in Canada.
W, well, thanks anyway[8D].

2- Study in Nursing and become a RN they are in high demand in the USA. they would give you a green card.
According to the immigration lawyer, that deal has ended last November. And after having graduated fromtwo 4-year colleges in the States, my bank account is suffering serious drought[8D].

3- Citizenship lottery.
Been applying every year but always goes to those who cannot even communicate in English (what's the point?)[8D]. Go figure.

>You are probably married seeing all the post about how to convince your wife (or something like this)
Negative. Never even had a GF (guess I'm the only 34er in the world who never even had a GF) but surely had spent plenty of time & money on some, which basically went down the drain. D@mn it[8D].

>I reallyhope youwill become an American Citizen, That would be a plus for us.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. And my breaking point about living in Japan & dealing with Japanese has already been broken for good[8D].
