Default Help with what this means please

hi all!
i'm so glad to have found a place where i can share and discuss my no so secret love affair, lol!

but it's in danger.

just got a call from the dealer (no the one we've been going to for years) that my darling girl (the 850 T5 with 280k miles) has an oil leak in the cooler lines. what does that mean? meaning, is this a bad thing? or a relative easy, not too expensive fix?

we've had her since mile zero, she was a wedding gift from hear hubby and she's been extremely good to us. i even have a few mild 'my volvo saved my life' stories. we've had no problems other than the usual regular stuff - brakes, pads, rotors (last 2 months with the front brakes due soon), a timing belt about 6 years ago. now we just have little things which, amazingly all just happened recently: the antennae needs help going up and down (we got hit with flying debris); the front left signal light broken (same flying debris incident last week); some of the interior lights aren't working (started about 3 years ago); the drivers side sun visor won't stay up; and lastly, the glove box is permanently locked (we hit a HORRIFIC pothole and the lock broke). other than those things, she's in amazing shape and is still so exciting to drive. i love her. truly. i love how she feels, how she sounds.... i digress. sorry

in addition to the oil leak, the ABS unit is bad and needs a module. so what do you think? be gentle....

angela

ps....
we are planning to get the XC90 in another year or so, trying to stretch it to 2 years .. we haven't had a car payment in 12 years

Oil cooler lines are, honestly, probably the best preece to have an oil leak. They're external, and easy to replace. Abs module is a common failure. Everything else sounds cosmetic. I think you'll be fine.

Oh and the light bulbs...those are probably just burned out. Change them. and you'll be due for another timing belt next year - change interval is 7 yrs or 70k miles.

Hi and welcome to the site.

Looking at the mileage you have, your timing belt may be way overdue. It's suppose to be changed every 70,000 miles. If that thing breaks, it's over.

It also sounds like you do NOT do your own repairs. If that's the case, get that oil like replaced, have the timing belt done if it's past due, then ride it out. You don't want to pay people to do the little things.

If you want to try to start repairing the car yourself, we can help you with that.
