Default Horn Stuck

Hello Guys,
My horn is stuck. Yesterday, I blew my horn and it just don't want to go off. So I pulled over, took out the fuse and went on my way. I thought that it would solve the problem. Howvevr when I put the fuse back in when I got home it is still stuck. I don't have a problem without having horn, the only thing is the horn and the wipers has the same fuse and it is about to rain in NY. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a quick fix.

Thanks,
Riculus

Most likely the steering wheel connections broke.
There is a repair you can do but you will have to buy parts to fix the horn properly.
If you Don't care about the horn at all unplug both of the horns then reinstall the fuse for the horn and the wipers will work.

If you want to repair it properly order the kit from here and install it.

The horn repair kit is $40.00 it is about half way down the page.

Thanks tech,
I have some questions. Is it easy for the average guy to take down and repair or do I need to take it to a mechanic? How long would it take for me to do it? Where can I get the instructions to do it?

I can take a computer apart and repair anything so I am a little technical but can I do this.

Thanks,
Riculus

It should take you about 1 hour or a little more.
You should have no problem at all doing it.

The instructions usually come with it.

Hey guys,
I got the part for the horn and it has the instructions to repair it. However, it starts with " After you remove the steering and Air bag". HAHAHA, How do you remove the steering wheel and the airbag. Any help would be greatle appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you look at what tech wrote about evaporator replacement (thread pinned at top of this forum) there is a part in there telling how to remove the air bag and the steering wheel. Good luck.

I also have a horn problem. It's an 06 XC70, and the horn fuse blows soon as its replaced. I disconnected the two horns, and when one is connected, its stuck on, fuse is OK. When I disconnect that one and connect the other horn, it blows the fuse right away. Could I have both a bad switch in the steering column and a shorted horn?

Yes.

Sounds like a bad switch keeping the circuit "on" all the time and one shorted horn taking out the fuse.

The horn contacts break and short out (which causes the horn to blow) under the air bag. Take the air bag off to get to the contacts. Two torx screws release the air bag. (if my memory is correct)

There are replacement/repair kits
