Also, through my research, the fuel rail and injectors do not need to come off.

The rails and injectos don't need to come off. Just the feed and return lines. I would suggest picking up some replacement fuel injection line from an autoparts store to replace the old line. This also allows you to cut your old line, making it easier to come off.

Hi kkzdad,

I just clicked your profile and noticed you too are Jim.

RedTurbo850 is Jim too, and RedTurbo had done a major fuel system job a little while ago and is now the authority for 850's fuel system diagnosis.

Why are the pics. not showing themselves on the above links? I need to pull the fuel rail to do some diagnostics on the injectors.

Thanks.

You don't need any pics. Disconnect the line to the rail on the right side (i.e. passenger side) 17mm IIRC. Then lift off the cover plate, unplug the injectors, and remove the 2 bolts securing the rail to the intake manifold. After that, pull each injector gently along the rail and the injectors will free. (still connected to the rail) From there you can take them off one by one, or test them individually still on the rail. If you are looking for resistance readings, there is no need to take them out. If you are trying to clean them though, or need to remove the rail for other reasons, Follow the above instructions.

I did find some pics elsewhere on the web yesterday. What threw me is that cap that snaps on the rail. Beyond that; It was way too easy. I just couldn't get my head around it being so easy without reassurance:>). Two bolts and a gas line!!!! What the . . .!!!

thanks,
gus

After they CAD / CAM'd that "PCV" system into reality they just didn't have enough energy to screw up and complicate the fuel rail design !!!
