How to Get the Actual Mileage on a 93-95 850 Volvo
From the following website:

As long as you have the DTC boxes up under the hood ('93-'95).
1. Switch ignition on
2. Connect the fly wire to socket - A7
3. Push button 5 times
4. When LED comes on and stays on, enter code 1-1-1 as follows:
- press the button once when LED is still on
- wait for LED to go out and come on again
- press the button once when LED is still on
- wait for LED to go out and come on again
- press the button once when LED is still on
- read off response, which will be the last three digits of the odometer miles
5. Repeat steps #3-4, but enter code 1-1-2 (that is, press the button twice on the last step); read off the response, which will be the first three digits of the odometer miles. If you have less than 100,000 miles, the first digit will read as 10 blinks.

This seems pretty straight forward, but I don't know what to look for under my hood. I'm not sure where to locate the DTC box, the fly wire or socket A7. Any photos or advice would be helpful.
Thanks,
Thanks,
The box is pretty much right next to where you add window washer fluid. When you pull the cover off you will see the ports and where the jumper goes. It's a small black box with kind of a flip up cover.
Thanks for the help Jim. I just did this successfully.
My odometer is stopped on 131,542. The actual mileage according to the computer is 133,331. Now I just need to fix the broken gear and reset it to the proper mileage.
I like this board already...

Try to change your cadence (either speed up or slow down the amount of time you hold the button down and how long you wait between button pushes). After the 5th press the led should come on solid which tell you it is ready to receive a command.
I use about 1 second between each button push with a duty cycle of about 50%.

Yep, you read it right. That is really low mileage - hopefully the timing belt got changed somewhere along the way.
Keep in mind that that is the stored mileage in the instrument cluster. If it is not original to the car all bets are off.

This might be a stupid question. I just bought a '94 850 turbo, the odometer was broken on it so i used this method to get the mileage. I got 241463. I'm from Canada, so the question was, is that number in miles or kilometers? Odo stopped at 233k kms.
Thanks.
Thanks.
This is going to be a stupid question but my 850s odometer was broken when I got it (go figure) and to get it through inspection I had to get a used working odometer (makes no sense the real milage is in the computer) but does having a different odometer in my car effect the computers readout? I say this with the thought the there is some chance that the mechanical odometer might linked with the computer.
That's a good question? I would think the speedo head electronically feeds the computer wbether or not the odo is broken. I would also think the communication is only one way ( to the computer). So if that is true then it would make no diff. The "new" speedo head will only add to the computer mileage. Does anybody out there know for sure?
