How to remove accesory belt???
OK so I got the parts from FCP to do the timing belt, however one of the first steps is to remove the accessory belt. I can twist it about 80% of the way but it won't go the next 20% so I can lock it in. Any hints or tricks with this thing? I actually gave up this afternoon and buttoned everything up. The last time I had this issue was with the front brake spring, took 45 mins to figure it out but I finally got it. This is just pissing me off!!!
I tried the 3 quarter trick, and several thick pieces of metal all of which were twisted beyond all recognition!!!

I feel your pain, I did the same thing and then just bought the tool from IPD.

I've heard of people buying square tube stock from Home Depot or Lowes and cutting off a short piece to get the job done.

RE: How to remove accesory belt???
Well I went to autozone, they had every serpintine belt removal tool known to man except one that would fit into my 850!!! Ahhhh! WTF Volvo!!! Oh well love/hate relationship right???
Glad to know I wasn't the only one going thru this, I'll try a crowbar and then if that doesn't work bite the bullet and buy the dang tool.

RE: How to remove accesory belt???
I've had to remove my accessory belt a few times over the past few months, and I feel ya because the first time I tried doing it, it took a few trips to different stores, and finding the right tool. I finally found an 18" breaker bar with a 3/4" drive. I have to move the coolant reservoir, and take out the 2 bolts that hold the ECU case to the body, and just kind of wiggle it out of the way, and the 3/4" drive fits right in there. I've heard of other tricks, and tried other things, but the big breaker bar has worked the best for me.
Good luck!
