I finally own a Volvo
I bought this car from my work.
Have been after them for about 2 months to sell it to me and they are finally selling it to me.
It is a 1996 with 180,000 miles on it. I still need to go through it with a fine tooth comb but over all it needs 2 tires and a few minor things.
Here is a couple of pics of it.
I know I need 2 front seats looking for them.

Tech, you need to take that car to a Independent Volvo mechanic and have a pre-purchase inspection before buying. These cars are known to have some problems. You need to get a spoiler for it too. About time you got one!!!

I was looking at the leather seats. Are those cracks due to never ever lubricating the "leather" and 10 years of direct sunshine? Or is it that the "leather" they use is of back quality?
Thanks guys!!!
Funny JIM!!! LOL
I need to give it the last look over on Monday. But for $1300.00 I couldn't beat it.
I think the seats are like that from the heat and FLORIDA sun.

What is a 850?? I didn't know that Volvo made such an animal! Is that the economy model with the three cylinder engine?
I wish I lived in Florida and could find a rust free Volvo. I should imagine that you will be able to find some pristine replacement parts. Congrats! I know you have looking for a Volvo and now you have it!

The Roots of the 850 is where your car came from.
It is built on the 850 platform in a way. The 2 door is a different animal but the S/C series.
But im glad I have one FINALLY!!

My 850 too had a driver's seat that had cracks, so I treated it with Armour-All Leather Care Geland it softened the leather. I think it's prone to degrading regardless of the weather. You could either try this or junkyard, or large parking lot at malls...[8D] You probably could swap seats in 10 minutes or less, I believe
Or as a last resort, threat your parts dept manager that you have an offer from Volvo's engineering dept, and tell him/her to either give you a 99% discount on new seats or you're on your way to Sweden
JPN
P.S: Why not give it a try with Toyota Supra's spoiler to see how it looks? I guarantee it'll look UGLY[8D]

It souhldn't be hard at all to find a set of front seats at a junk yard. These cars are that age where they should be plentiful in used parts places. You will probably pay almost as much in shipping as the seats cost though, so you should try to find a set close by. I bet your wife will really like it. Once all the women in my family drove one, that's what they wanted. My wife has the V70, my one daughter has the S80 and my Mother in law started the whole thing when she bought an 83 760 Turbo Diesel. Now she drives and 01 V70. $1300 was a real steal if the car is in even half decent shape, which it appears to be.
Yes I am searching for seats locally.
The hard part is the seats are Grey. Kind of limited. Almost all cars here have the Beige seats.
We have 5 junk cars at work and they all have Beige seats[:@][:@][:@]
But I will eventually find some.

You might want to check and see what an upolstery shop would charge to recover them. Might be cheaper. I didn't realize they were grey. It's hard to tell in the picture. When you said they were grey, I immediately thought of getting both fronts and the back seat in the charcoal color. I think it would go fine with the light grey on the door panels and the dash. I think the charcoal will be easier to find than the light grey, and the beige is by far the easiest to find. Just a couple of my thoughts. I really like the charcoal color with the white exterior. I really think I like the all leather better than the suede/leather combo like I have in the R, but that's part of what makes it an R. Man the charcoal seats that are in the 94 I sold are in really good shape. Last I looked the shop that bought it still had it too.
