thx for the compliments guys! (or gals, if the case may be)

its crazy, the day after they were installed, my wife and i were at the local gut-rot (aka sonic drive in), and somebody came up and started chatting about it. then, i had a trip to the volvo dealer in the neighboring town (ive been paranoid about my wife driving the wagon, after having all new pads and rotors, it felt as if there was air in the line, took it there for a diagnostic), and 2 salesmen were askin where i got em, how i like em, and if i was interested in buying another 850 (omg, they have a whtie 97 5speed Sedan GLT, N/A, with 38k miles :O aking price a mere $10G... if i havent messed with my wagon so much, i would have traded it in, in a heartbeat).

i have got more talk and compliments since the headlights than anything else - highly recommended!

I would take the Turbo automatic over the NA Five Speed any day. I drove one once and was not impressed at all. Now if you can find the Turbo in a five speed, that's the way to go. You can 98 S70's, but none of the 850 Turbo Five Speeds were imported to the USA. They had them in Canada though.

i think i was mostly impressed with the milage + cost combo. if these cars last as long as they have a reputation for, its a hell of a deal. that and i love standards

I would look for a 98 S70 T5 Five Speed. You will not be sorry. You should be able to get one for around $10K, but the are few and far between. I have never had a Volvo that was not a Turbo.
