Default Keyless Entry

Hello to all, I am a new '97 850 GLTowner. The keyless entry does not work. I replaced the battery but see in the book it requires 2 batteries of a different number. But on the fob it reads battery number being what is in it and that being only one. New battery but it still doesn't work. Could it be the wrong fob and signal and how can I confirm it? thanks for any help.

Did it work before? Or has it never worked?

Hello:

I don't know the accurate history. I just bought it last Friday in LA and driving it home to Montana tomorrow. I was hoping some one would know if OEM relay FOB has one or two batteries and if there is a way for me to find out if I have the right one for the car. The FOB
I have has only one battery with the battery number on it conflicting with the OEM book. The book I have for the Model & year says 2 batteries are in the unit. It is not a vital thing but sure convenient to use. seems like it wouild be an easy fix.

You'll probably have to reset the unit. I forget exactly how but you need to move your key in the ignition (do it a couple times) and then you hit the lock/unlock button to set it.

I know i'm not 100% on this, but that's what I've been doing since my battery died and I got a new one.

If it is the 2 button style remote it should reprogram by getting in the car, close and lock the doors, and turn the ignition back and forth from position0 to position II 5 times within 10 seconds. The press and hold the unlockbutton on the remote. At the point the doors unlock it is programmed.

Hello:

In my traveling, I lost the remote since it was taking up
space in my pocket and not working. I recently found it and
again changed the battery and followed the reprogram instructions
herein above and it still isn't working.

It is the 2 button side by side style and says Volvo on it. It has one
large battery but my OEM book says "batteries". Maybe it is a
battery man. issue or change.

Any other ideas on the programming would be much appreciated
before I go any further. I also would like to know if the VIN #
of the car will show whether or not it even has akeyless entry. The
FOB came with the car when I purchased it used.

Thanks for help. Happy holidays to all!
