I just bought a used remote control unit on Ebay and am NOT able to program it for my daughter's 1994 850 Turbo. The battery tests good and the unit with it's two horizontal buttons looks exactly like the one in the manual. I turned the key and on and off 5 times, on the fifth time I left it on and pressed either/both buttons on the remote - nothing. Any ideas?

 

Check part #s -should be the same. I'd also check fuse for that system.

P.S.
you should do those 5 turns quickly -I also could not program mine at first...

Am I turning the key ALL the way on so that all the dash lights come on?
Does it matter if the doorlocks are locked or not during this programming?

Yes, you are turning the key to theposition II-all the lights are ON. I don't think you need to lock doors. Are the part #s the same?

 

Forgive my ignorance but since I never did have a remote controller, what part # am I comparing to?

Make sure all doors and hood are closed when trying.
On the 5th time the LED on the dash should light up to tell you it is in program mode.
