Tech, I only hope your wife isn't reading this forum or my life would be in a serious danger too. When you're on the forum, be sure to look behind your shoulder once every minute or so (sorry for the aching neck muscle:(). Or better yet, place a mirror where you can "inspect" the back of your shoulders at all times. Why not take the rear-view mirror off of that donor and put it on your PC. But when your wife asks you what the mirror is all about, then I would.....

.....

RUN[8D]!!!

Looks good Tech. Can't wait to see it running. Yellow 850-R's have always been my favorite. Even though my wife thinks no car should be yellow.

Hi V70 2.4T,

You've asked for it, now is the time to utilise my well-known famous unparalleled skills.

Suggested Scenario (make sure to follow the killer words that are bolded & underlined):

V70: Hey wife, there's something important that I need to share with you.

Wife: What is it dear?

V70: Well, it's about an investment. You know, there are certain models of automobiles that have limited production and hold high values for many years ahead, and I am just considering of a yellow Volvo called 850 T5R.

Wife: Sorry honey, but we just bought a Jeep 3 months ago, and cannot afford another car.

V70: I understand your point (women love being understood:)). But if you could allow me to describe it in a logical manner, Ford is planning to sell Volvo, and BMW is one of the possible acquirers of Volvo (don't you ever mention Hyundai[8D]). Now, as you know that BMW is the world's leading luxury auto manufacturer, and you've seen James Bond (this one alone probably would convince your wife more than is necessary; it may even backfire against your happy marriage so be careful[8D]) driving one in his movies, right? Therefore, if BMW does acquire Volvo, the value of all Volvos, especially this rare, limited production yellow T5R, is expected to jump by somewhere between 2 to 4 times its original value according tothe statistics in Forbes (or just name any of the money-making stock-market kind of crap magazines). So, I am just trying to be rational, and make our family a bit more comfortable, and provide our children (if you have any) with better education. It is just the same as buying stocks, or 401K to put it in a simple way.

Wife: V70, I really don't know what to say, that you've been planning so far ahead. But sorry dude, I've been watching that Volvo forum of your favourite and this guy, named JPNor whoever this clown is, has been trying to brainwash people's wives and I am about to submit a complaint...

V70: No....you're not:(! That SOB has nothing to do with our abundant future investment plans:(:(:(!!

......

I'd better RUN[8D]!!!

OK you must remember the saying "It's always easier to gain forgiveness than permission". Just go buy it and tell her you bought it. It's a done deal. Then when you come home one night and see the new living room set, you will be even. You have to act quick when you seea yellow T5R in decent shapefor sale because they won't last long.

After I bought mine, pretty much without telling my wife, I sold a Nissan Frontier pickup that hardly ever got driven and got more for it than I paid for the T5R, and it gets driven every day. If I leave it at home she drives it, and when I drive it she drives the 850 R. The V70 gets driven very little since I bought the T5R.

By the way I like the part about it being worth 2 to 4 times it's original value.

This is way to funny!!!!!

For a small update I did a little work on the car tonight.
Installed new upper torque mount.
Installed new Serp. belt.
Fixed passenger side wiper arm (was just loose).
Installed blacked out grill.
Tomorrow night comes Dist. cap, rotor, wires and plugs. (maybe a few small things as well.
By this weekend I will need to install the radiator and do a few other things.

Soon when the weather permits I will take a bunch of before pics.
This way when I am done I will have good pictures to compare to.

I will keep updating the post as I go.

Agreed. I too wish you get a nice Yellow T5R.

Axel,
I'm sorry, no offense:(. I just thought that a woman would be more impressed to hear "BMW + James Bond" combo than "Hyundai + Mr. Bean" combo[8D]. Or, could it be "BMW + Mr. Bean" combo and "Hyundai + James Bond"?

Anyway, I think I've deviated Tech's post to the outer space...[&:]

Sorry!

The only update I have so far is that I got a good radiator in the car.(Old one was leaking)
We used a porta power to pull alot of the front end damage out to get the radiator in there correctly.
Fixed a vaccum leak as well.
Hopefully this weekend I can take a bunch of more pictures.
Trying to make a good before log of pictures.
I will post some of the interior after I take them. Remember the Air bags had gone off so the top of the dash looks like Crap.

Hopefully later I will post the pics.

I haven't had much time to work on it due to being really sick. The last 4 days all I did was go to work then come home and go to bed.

Hopefully I will get on the ball soon and get the car done.

Tech, I hope you were feeling better before you worked on the car[X(].

It's starting to look good, now it's time to put the front bumper, passenger side front fender moulding and SRS, etc...

BTW, did the front grille come as black, or is it just missing one?

Keep it improving!

Looking good, Tech! You brought a very nice shine out of that thing. I can't wait to see the pics after the bumper, etc is installed.

Holy smoke, that looks good! It looks brand new! I didn't know they
look that good in yellow.
Tech, take it easy until you're feeling better, that heat is a killer.

Hi Kanji and xjflexer. Now I want a yellow 850. I need to go to
Home Depot and get some yellow Rustoleum and a roller.... :-)

Best regards, John

J Telectro, you know they have those electric feed rollers so you will get consistant and even coverage over the whole car. Might be worth the extra expence.

Tech, I just noticed, did you buy a tool set to match the yellow T-5R, or was that just a "by chance" thing?:D

Hi John,
>I need to go to Home Depot and get some yellow Rustoleum and a roller.... :-)

Good choice! In general, polishing & waxing combo does the magic. Turtle Wax used to sell colour-specific polishing compound that worked great, but for some reason they are discontinued:(.

Hi Xjflexer,
>Tech, I just noticed, did you buy a tool set to match the yellow T-5R, or was that just a "by chance" thing?:D

Good eye! Excellent attention to detail indeed!

I just had to do unpaid OT yesterday. Unpaid OT is way too common in Japan[8D]. This makes you more tired psychologically.....
