Default Low beam headlamp

Hello Everyone!, this ismy 1st post here.
A couple of months ago I replaced the R.H. low beam headlamp bulb and noticed one burned connector on the socket. I bought a new replacement socket, cut the wires and replaced it, thought nothing of it until the light went out again! Once again the same problem - one of the socket female connectors where the bulb prong plugs into was discoloured "burned" to the point the plastic from the socket melted around the metal plug which would loosen up the connection causing the bulb to cut out. What am I dealing with here? I am at a loss where to go from here
Please help.

Maybe the connector didn't fit tight enough on the new connector when you installed it?

I would install another new one and make sure the connector fits really tight.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it helpful & enjoyable.

I had replaced both R & L connectors with aftermarket, high-temp silicone type connectors ($10 or so for a set of 2). I bought them at AutoZone. It requires wire crimping or soldering, though.

Good luck,

You have to enable macro mode on the camera to take that picture. It's the button with the flower.

I agree with Tech. I had an old Dodge that had a similar problem. Turned out the connector did not "grab" the bulb tight enough. This caused an increased resistance, and caused the socket to heat up to the point of nearly melting

Thanks for your input, I bent the prong on the bulb and I thought before I waste any more new plugsI'll test it on the burned one, and to my amazement it is WORKING so far! 5 days.
