Default Low Beam Headlamp question

Hello All,

This is my first post. I will try to be brief. I changed the low beam passenger side bulb on my 2008 S60 and it was fine for a few days and then went out again. The socket which the bulb plugs into was cracked and broken. I went to the dealer and they sold me a new socket and said its a common problem. The new socket has two wires and the old socket has three. The fella at the dealer said that I would have to connect two of the old wire together. My question: How do I know which side of the new socket gets two wires, or does it even matter?

Many Thanks,
Russell
