Must odor in A/C when turned on
I have a bad musty odor that comes from the A/C when first turned on. It seems to lessen after it has been running. My mechanic says it is a frequent problem that is due to fungus on the evaporator. He said that a spray is made just for this problem and that it should be sprayed on the evaporator. The problem I am having is getting to the evaporator to spry it. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Thanks

RE: Must odor in A/C when turned on
A common problem and to really get at the evaporator means taking out the dash - strange place to put it!
I remove a couple of the vents and spray Febreze or similar into the ducts. That usually holds the smell at bay for a couple of months but unfortunately does not remove the cause which is the mould on the fins. |

Go to WWW.Airsept.com
They make the product to do this and it comes in a kit. Mazda, GM, Ford and Mitsubishi are OEM providers of the product so they have the special nozzle to get to the evaporator to do this. Get the product and go to a dealership and ask them to apply it. |

Also replace the Pollen filter.
