mystery vacuum line?

While changing the air filter I noticed a small black vacuum line coming off the side of the filter housing, for the life of me I cannot find where it connects. The bend in the hose looks like it was going some where under the rotor cap. I removed the cap and nothing. This is driving me nuts! Can anyone check theirs and trace it for me? The line is only about 6 or 8 inches long and curves under the rotor cap. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know how to send pictures. If you look straight down on the air filter on the right hand side you will see two small hoses going into the air filter. On mine one is white that snakes up towards the radiator the other is black and curves as if it was connected somewhere under the rotor cap.

pics would help for sure, is the car a turbo?

You need to take time to find and read your Vacuum Diagram, which should be a tag in your engine compartment. Then follow each line and check / replace if not good enough.

When I originally bought my 855 and went through the same exercise, I found some things not connected correctly, although lines were like-new.

There is a thread here (maybe 20 threads actually) about these vacuum lines around the Airbox.

Actually an important question for you -- is your car Turbo or not (very different Vacuum schemes)?

If it is a black hard line that attaches to the lid on one side the other side should go to the front of the air box. It will go to the valve for the air inlet from the core support. The nipple on the air box is a little hard to see though.

Non-Turbo. checked pics in this thread and can not find nipple.

You almost have to pull the air box out to see it if you do not know where it is.

It is the vacuum line for the heated air intake off the manifold.

No, it comes from a thermostat on the air box. The other side of the thermostat goes to the intake manifold port. On my 1996 850, the white plastic tube goes to the black colored fitting on the thermostat and the black plastic tubing goes to the brass colored fitting. The other end of the white tubing goes to the intake manifold and the other end of the black tubing goes to the heated air door. jxkeefe

hello everyone. I just completed a valve job on a 1997 850 na, and I have one mystery vacuum line myself.
It is the small black one on the left side of the intake manifold. It comes snaking its way to the front over by the battery. I replaced all of the other lines to their locations. help would be appreciated.
