Anyone know where to find a clutch kit for my 97 AWD in Canada? Volvo has one in Sweden, but it's a 15-20 day wait. I called ipd, they tried but since they don't have the 850 AWD in the states they don't carry it. Any other ideas?

Worth a try? I have a 1997 850AWD with the 5 speed as well so I will eventually need to find one... :-(

 

Lol, yeah almost 20 years of wear and tear and the thing did not want to come out. I went with viva's 850 R kit.they say it I an upgrade and direct bolt on. EST supposedly has one, but for 600$ plus shipping it was too rich for my blood. Will have to keep Swedish auto in mind for parts, For next time. Thanks.

Genuine Volvo Clutch Kit 850R - ViVA Performance here is the clutch i got from Viva, the throw(release) bearing is coming from Volvo and will be the AWD bearing and not the R type. if you call volvo they will ask you for your VIN, mostly because they don't trust you lol. but if you want to you can pre order the AWD clutch kit through volvo if it does take 15-20 days to come in, gives you plenty of time to prep before going threw with it. mine just went after a long road trip, and i needed a new one asap, or i would have waited, for the volvo one to come in.

 

warning the one i bought from viva, is the wrong one for the AWD, it is too big in Dia. and too thick, the coils are also built into the disc, but the AWD is flat.

I had the same issues, seemed like no one except the dealer could source the clutch. Ended up paying 3K for the dealer to do it :-(

 

ouch, that does not not sound like fun. i contacted viva and there are positive it will fit, they say they have never had a problem with any other M58 tranny. they want me to actually test fit it in. and not just go buy what it looks like.
i just want a new clutch, it's the family car i have waited more than a week.

i can't wait for volvo to bring in a actual 850 AWD clutch kit from sweden,because it would take just under a month. Euro Sport tuning say they have one but, it is in the 600$ range not including shipping and i have emailed swedish auto, and see what they say.

 

So if anyone is interested in doing a 850 AWD to 850 R clutch swap. remember you will also need a new 850 R flywheel and release bearing. I'm not going to be doing this. And viva is not returning my emails about returning the product so I maybe selling a 850 R press. Plate and disc by next week if they do not get back to me.
