Guys, chill....I'm not trying to pick on anybody, but if you say you're spending $65 on oil for a car that holds less than 6 quarts, don't you think somebody might ask about that?

Yesterday I picked up two 1 gallon containers of Rotella on sale, for $22 and some change.

Over the years I have read where several people spent between $650 and $800+ on a head gasket job. I did 2 oil changes after the job. One at the job with regular oil, then the 2nd 50 miles later with full synthetic and a Mann filter. There goes the $65 oil change.

Most people change the timing belt, water pump, etc. when they do a HG job. I did not. That would have run my cost up even higher.

The overall point was not to buy a car that needs work and pay to much for it. A guy asked me to purchase his son's "barely running" 850 the other day. When I ran the cost he would have had to give me $800 to take it. There was NO WAY that I could even break even with it. Just from a glance, I needed $1,900 in parts just to get the car close to right and we all know that there isn't to many 850's worth more than $2,000.

I'm chilled .....
I asked Rspi about the NAPA bill because it seemed way high but again it depends on how much they did to it.
My 850T stock took 6.5 Quarts and now with the added cooler I'm close to eight but that's just me. I figure cost on 7 quarts of synthetic which is why I questioned your $15 price tag.
It's not a problem and I'm not picking on you it's just you're looking at less than six quarts of regular oil, Rspi is looking at two oil changes and I'm tossing out the price of 5.2 or 5.5 Qts synthetic and a filter from an auto parts store (forgot to add two additional quarts to fill a stock 850). We learn by exchange.
Vive la différence !!
I have a Madza RX7 with a 454 chevy in it and I do run "Diesel" oil in it (Rotella) due to the different additive package in that type of oil as it's an older block with older technology valve train and guides and cast iron heads. My Volvo I treat better and feed synthetic.
