Question New found boost/power in my 850 T-5R...

Since I moved here to Albuquerque, it seems as if my car has a lot more power. So I'm scooting around town like I have a little turbo Eclipse or something.

Well, today I realize that the dryer air feels a lot cooler than the hot and humid days of the deep south, Little Rock Arkansas. So I have actually turned my AC off and have the windows down or cracked most of that time. So I turn the AC on and punch it a few times and it's not giving me the kick that I expect.

So, I guess my AC is not turning off at WOT as it is suppose to. Is there a way to verify this? Can someone loan me their phone to tape under the hood to see if my AC compressor is doing what it is suppose to? At WOT it is suppose to kick off then when I calm down, it's suppose to kick back on. I don't think this is happening.

I also think that my compressor runs when I have the system off on the fan slider. While driving around I can feel very cold air passing through the vents when the system is suppose to be off. I actually have to flip the AC switch to off so the orange light is on for it to stop that.

If you have the recirculation open(no light) then the air that the windshield is pushing into the vents is activating the AC. I think you also have to shut the "airmix" off. I ran into that issue myself. My AC compressor doesn't shutoff like it's supposed to at WOT either.

Unplug the compressor and see if it still acts the same.

I'm sure it wouldn't. It doesn't with the switch off.

Huehuehue turbo eclipse..

I always make sure both ecc lights are on when I don't want the ac compressor to be on during WOT when I need all 290hp.

You can check this also by doing the following (assuming you have an ohmmeter):
- take off the lower dashboard cover from the passenger side or the glove comparment.
- locate the blue A/C compressor relay.
- the Blue Gray cable is the "output" which goes to the compressor and should have 12V when the compressor runs.
- the Blue Black cable comes from the engine ECU and is the trigger for the relay (grounded when compresor should run).

You can hook a 12V bulb to the blue black cable and yelow violett cable (ignition 12v) .

If the bulb is all the time on then you either have a wire problem between the relay and the ECU or (very unlikely) the engine ECU is not working as it should.

I would also try another relay .

Cheers
Cristian
