tyres are a personal thing as some will say these are great and others will say they don't like them it's more on what money you have to buy them with and depends on what you use it for as if doing track use then buy some sticky tyres but they don't last as long as a harder tyre as i know a lot of people in uk use toyo t1r's on the t5 but not the cheapest tyre but susposed to give good grip even in wet weather but depending on how it's driven and power car has they can do as little as 2000 miles for a set of front tyres.
best advice is to remeber to swap front to rear after a few months so it will wear evenly on all four tyres rather than have front's do 12 months and rear do 2 years.

Im running the sumitomo HTR4 A/S P01 on my car (205/50/16)and so far i LOVE them. Price was definitely right and they do all I want them to do - they're reasonably sticky, have a decent treadwear rating, are v rated, and cost me about $240 for four of them. Now granted, I have LOTS of friends who work for Tire Rack, so I always wind up getting tires for cost plus 5 bucks a tire.
List on those tires is $86 a tire. if you want to go a little less expensive than that, the Kumho Ecsta is also an excellent tire. if you go to tirerack.com, they give customer ratings on their tires, which will help you select something.
I want to add that I am not a tire rack employee - that being said - I always buy my tires from them and would even if I didnt have friends there who could get me hookups - they have great prices and great selection.
Edit: You're looking for a 205/45/17, right? They dont have the sumitomo or the kumho in that size. Id also look at the Yokohama AVID ENVigor if you want an all-season tire. if all you need is a summer tire, look at the hankook ventus. Just a couple ideas for you out there.

From the reviews on Discount Tire's website, some people don't like the P4's road noise and report that the tread life is much shorter than their rating. Some even indicated that the P4's lower the MPG of their hybrid cars. Have you noticed anything like this?

nothing of the sort yet. I feel they are very quite on both cars i have them on. I check my milage constanly (every tank) on my 240 and it did go down a little bit, BUT i have been driving faster lately... product of 50 hours of work a day, school 3 nights a week, and a family that is to be fit in somewhere in the middle. Let me get back to you on the mileage after i have a few tanks of more "normal" driving.

I spoke with the tire man today and he gave me two quotes
Yokahama Envigor at $115 mounted and balanced
or continental DWS at $125
he said that these two would have great tread ware, very little road noise, and would ride better than the Falkens I have on there now. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Chet

My 850 came with the Avid Envigor on the front barely legal tread depth. I got another 2500 miles before i saw them start to show threads. And they didnt slide around everywhere, they did spin a lot but oops. I was surprised they had a treadwear of 700. But im buying the continental DWS from tirerack, and having a place install and balance them. NTB front end alignment $20 till Aug 30 or $350 for the tires and alignment.
$225 tirerack, and nobody stocks the DWS Extreme contact so if you go that route be prepared from $120 to $160 a tire.

Very good
I think I am going to go with the Yokohama. It is a little cheaper and the reviews have been good. I am weary of the continentals because I don't know much about them and continental is giving away a GPS with a purchase of 4. I wouldn't mind the GPS but why do they need to give something like that away if they make such a great tire. Like I said I don't have much knowledge of the continentals but from what I have learned so far the Yokos seem to be the better deal. If anyone has another view I would love to hear your opinion. Tires are the single most important part of a car and I don't want to get stuck with a set that don't perform well.
Thanks,
Chet
