Default new tires, car turns more than it should now...

not sure how to explain it, but my front tires were crap so i went to discount tires where i have a warranty. turns out there was swelling on both front tires (ones i had replaced 2 years ago from discount and got the warranty on) so they were replaced under warranty (tech said they barely had enough tread left to be covered..).

anywho,

the new tires were put on the rear, and the rear tires were rotated to the front. drove out, vibrations down a lil bit. got on the highway, proceeded to speed up to change lanes, started turning left and it felt like the car wanted to turn MORE than i was turning. happens when i turn right also.

im not sure if its just the new rear tires are gripping more or if there is something wrong. going back to discount (called them on the way home, they said it could be a few things but would fix it no charge) tomorrow morning, but wondering wtfh is going on.

thoughts?

If the tires are directional and they put them on going the wrong direction, you'll have strange pulling.

Other than that you may have some suspension wear issues. Lifting the car up may have agrivated it.

suspension is practically brand new. struts and springs both put in last year. new front and rear brakes/rotors. new axles. new front and rear mounting hardware as well.

its def. the tires somehow, and im thinking they might be directional because im feeling pull to the right AND left when i brake also, just not as bad as when im up to speed on the highway.

You need an alignment. Do it soon because your car is dangerous right now.

If your Discount Tire is anything like mine, there's no doubt they'll find the problem, bring your check book and be ready for a 3 figure price + change! Not a big fan of Discount Tire, at least in S/E Mich. I've had good luck with Firestone shops! Best alignment I ever had on several vehicles I've taken there.

car had an alignment about 2 years ago and was fine until they put these tires on.

am getting ready, about to head back out there. already paid 150 for the tires, so i better not have to pay more :\

"suspension is practically brand new. struts and springs both put in last year"

So your car has had suspension work since your last alignment. Discount Tire will tell you you need an alignment.

$150 for two tires mounted and balanced is pretty inexpensive. What kind of tires did you buy? I don't mean to be rude but $60.00 tires are almost guaranteed to be C.R.A.P. (Chinese Replacement Auto Parts).

You don't need Discount Tires to tell you if directional tires are installed wrong. They ALL have the direction printed on the tires.

An alignment is due anytime you have suspension parts replaced. That may be the reason the tires crapped out in the first place. Not sure why they didn't tell you that while you were in there to get the tires changed.

wasnt anything anyone listed. discount tires apparently thinks they botched up pretty bad. they said the rear tires that they put on the front were so beat up that one of them had a slight pi ece of the steel belt showing, and the other one had terrible tread.

solution: replace both tires free.

tires - falken ziex ze-612 is what im using now. was using the 512s but they crapped out after 2 years on the road >.>

-edit-

i have 4 brand new tires for the price of one. i think discount tire has earned my business

-edit2-

i actually paid 143 for all 4 tires. the first 2 were slightly out of warranty, so they gave me a buy one get one free thing since i purchased their warranty 2 years ago. they also said that i could upgrade to 65k mile tires(ones i had were 30k) for a mere 28 bux more, so i did it. i cant really complain for the price i paid, and falken's have a good rep.

I do like the customer service that Discount Tires have. Heck, they repaired a tire for me for free and I have never purchased tires from them.

Now, why they would put 2 bad tires back on your car is beyone me and scary. Someone needs to be sent PACKING for that one.

i dont get it either. they showed me the one with a sliver of steel showing.. i was like **** yeah i need to replace that but said itd have to wait, so he didnt even ask why, he just said 'one second', came back and said they were just gonna put 2 more new tires on. didnt explain why, didnt care. 250+ worth of free tires, cant complain eh?

4 new tires, car grips pretty hard now. 150 bux out my pocket, cant complain!
