new on the volvo scene, ob2 port not conecting & other question
3 days ago i got a 96 t5 mt , did some light maintenance, replaced some hoses, tightem some others, removed the silencers lol..
im having trouble with the response from the ecu
checked some threads here and im just thinking its a pinched wired somehere
ob2 port has power and ground
no fuses are blown
interior lights and lighter works
tried 3 different obd2 scanners, elm327 bluetooth included with torque app
other one is an autel a lil more expensive with more support so i dont think its the scanner
any routing of the obd2 cables i can look for without working too much of the interior?
also, removed the panel where the port is located , only saw a pink and black cable with a plug discconected (similar to the lighter bulb one)
-----------------
about the next question , car is boost leaking somewhere and im seeing the wastegate not that hard to move at all, was thinking of harden the spring with the regulator a lil bit to see if its that, any info on how to remove the firewall of the turbo? i might save some time rather than start dissasembling things

idk about the ecu should be the oem motronic 4.3 i suppose, car was made in belgium , it has the obd2 port and its giving power atleast, it might be some volvo blocking thing ? i might try the comunity softwares on a pc once i get a connector for it
1996 was the first year the OBD port inside the car worked. It was there in some 1995 cars but did not work at all. I seem to remember the 96-98 cars had a different communication protocol - and I guess the scanners you have tried don't have that. I always simply used the Volvo scan tool that worked on cars thru 1998.
i doubt its the scanners, i used torque app which has a lot of protocols, and the autel one that has an updated pack of vin's including 850 , im gonna search which protocol it should use and force it manually , i remember seeing the one it should be while sweeping through protocols but it just continued trying others
1995 uses the OBDI port in the engine bay. Here is a link to use the port - LINK
The attached document has the meaning of the codes

some possible things :
users said that it took even 2 hours for the ecu to respond to an elm327
it might be a female conector of the obd2 port no getting good contact (seems fine at plane sight)

The scanners you have will not speak to the ECU in the car, the OBD port is not fully OBD2 compliant
Try the 850 OBD-II app from Google Play Click for App
along with a bluetooth ELM dongle CLICK for ELM (not all Bluetooth dongles work, this one does)
and an old Android phone (doesn't work on Apple phones)
