Newbie ???'s
Hi there. I am looking to buy a 95' 850 turbo wagon with 105,xxx miles on it and had a few ???'s.
I'm getting it for $2750.00
It has some body work to be done but it looks pretty smooth.
When driving it after giving it alot of gas it would stall out. I also noticed it wasn't as powerful as the other 850 turbo's I've driven. It felt like my old chevy on a cold morning. If I hit the accelerater to hard it would bog down. Could it be that the Turbo is going or is completely out? And is it an easy fix? How much for a new turbo?
The blower motor for the AC/Heat is also not working but hopefully its just a fuse.
What do ya'll think. Is it worth it?
Please help I might have to buy this soon.
Thankyou in advance, Notta...

Do you know the service history of it? I would think a lot of things could contribute to it bogging down. Normal tune up stuff could help (plugs, wires, cap, air filter, cleaning intake). I just replaced all my vacuum lines as the old rubber ones just deteriorate after 10+ years. That made a big difference for me, that and cleaning up my intake.
How do the spark plugs look?
If you pull the hoses before the intake manifold, you can check to see how much oil is in them...some is 'normal' for a car that old, but a lot could be a leaky turbo maybe.
I don't know much about turbo's, as i haven't messed w/ mine...yet, but i think you can look at it to see if oil is leaking from the return line on the bottom side. I've heard you can check for play in the bearing, but don't know how to go about it exactly. I've seen new turbo's go for anywhere from 300-500, and rebuilt or used ones can be found for less...
good luck

There was no 97 V70. They were introduced in 98. V70s are also 5 cylinder

Also they might be going by the production date.
I had one today that was a 3/1997 and listed as a 1998 S70.
